Covering a wide range of sports, news, entertainment, culture and more, Joey (he/him) has made his mark as one of Australia’s leading football reporters.
One of the most prolific writers in the Australian game, his written works have been published by industry leaders such as ESPN, The Guardian, SBS’ The World Game, AAP, and Optus Sport. Beyond the written realm, he has appeared on podcasts - hosting and producing ESPN’s The National Curriculum podcast - radio shows and television programs across Australia and around the world.
In 2022, Joey travelled to Qatar to cover the FIFA World Cup and was on the ground during the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup all across Australia.
He also serves as a commentator in both a play-by-play and analysis role; calling NPL Victoria, Australia Cup, Dockerty Cup, and Nike FC Cup games. In 2023, he commentated Melbourne Knights’ Round of 32 win over Lions FC in the Australia Cup for Network Ten and the following season commentated on games in the Round of 32, Round of 16, and Quarterfinals.
Beyond media, Joey is also passionate about Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) health and empowerment. Still in the midst of a 16-year Hodgkin’s Lymphoma journey, he has served as a Board Director in the non-profit sector; previously sitting on and chairing the board of Canteen Australia.
